Welcome to the Site for Quakers in our area of the North West of England (around Manchester and Warrington). Quakers are organised into local groups (“Local Quaker Meetings”) and then the local Meetings are organised into Area Meetings. These meet once a month (they used to be called "Monthly Meetings".) Our Area Meeting is called Manchester and Warrington Area Quaker Meeting. (Until recently it was called Hardshaw East Monthly Meeting.)
Manchester Young Quakers is a group of people aged 18-40. We meet for social events at least once a month and welcome anyone who feels able to call themselves young with an interest in Quakerism. To find out more please visit our web site at www.manchesteryq.co.uk
If you are wondering what God may be,
Looking for a purpose in life
Craving company, or seeking solitude,
Come to our Meeting for Worship!
We shall not ask you to speak or sing,
We shall not ask you what you believe,
We shall simply offer you our friendship,
And a chance to sit quietly and think,
And perhaps somebody will speak,
And perhaps somebody will read,
And perhaps somebody will pray,
And perhaps you will find here
That which you are seeking
We are not saints,
We are not cranks,
We are not different --
Except that we believe
That God's light is in us all,
Waiting to be discovered.

‘Advices and Queries’
Is a small red book that contains 42 short and pithy pieces of advice or questions to ask ourselves. Quakers use this a lot. If you would like to see all of them, use the following link:
http://www.quakerweb.org.uk/qfp/qfpchapter1.html
On the Advices page on this site we show four of them. This selection will change from time to time. Click Advices tab, top of this page, to go to this section.
Fair Trade Accreditation
The five Local Quaker Meetings of Manchester and Warrington Area Quaker Meeting all seek to support Fair trade practices. Four of them are accredited as Local Meetings and one is currently seeking accreditation.
